Yuccas combine elegance and toughness at the same time. I painted this directly in the field—plein air. I was impressed with how soil was not an issue for this plant; it was growing directly on a rock. In spring, it will lift a spike of creamy flowers into the sky, and these will transform into green “bananas” carrying the seeds of its future.
